BoxcoUK worked with Exposure to manufacture award-winning “Trail Blaze” board game… Exposure is a youth media organisation
Established in 1996, Exposure is a charitable enterprise assisting vulnerable and disadvantaged young people to thrive in all areas of media, advertising and publishing.
The game was produced for Haringey Council – who came up with the concept of designing a board game to teach young people about drugs.
The Trail Blaze Knowledge Game won the National Communicating Youth Justice Award for best promotional work…
Luke, Designer at Exposure Organisation says
“This project often gets picked out. I think because it’s fun and looks interesting. It was really good working on it.Exposure were approached by Haringey Youth Offending Service with a plan for a Cannabis Knowledge board game. We designed everything from the packaging to the board and counter stickers. We also ran it through testing to optimise playability and we used BoxcoUK to help when it came to sourcing and managing the production. Thanks Boxco.”
Elspeth from Production, comments on behalf of the BoxcoUK team
“We worked alongside Exposure to produce the Trail Blaze game, giving advice on board-type and inks. Our team has a lot of experience now when it comes to producing high-end creative projects. Knowing what to use and how to use it saves time and extra cost involved in using the wrong materials. This was a knowledge game for a council teaching adolescents, we’ve done other board games designed for training staff.”

Discover what Kelly the Domestic Goddesque, Jenny at the Gingerbread House, Emily Foran, Angela Cheung, Helen on Crazy Kitchen, Cheryl on Madhouse Family Reviews, Pippa and Eileen Teo (ETS), have all been blogging about … Playing ‘Pure Imagination’ from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and jam-packed with ingredients to perform Warburtons Pancake Possibilities, this PR piece blew up a storm of pancake blogging in time for Shrove Tuesday with a pack that literally popped pancakes, off each corner …!
Popcorn staged the design and BoxcoUK set about the inner workings to cut the frame for all the ingredients, the spinning wheel and the popping pancakes, sprung loaded and tethered from the corners. The finished product was a work of art, produced at breakneck speed, robust enough to deliver ‘From our Family to Yours’ across the country, keeping followers of Mumsnet and other domestic (family orientated) blogging sites busy talking pancakes.
To quote Jenny, Mum-blogger at the Gingerbread House…
“My children absolutely loved opening the Magic Pancake Box which played Pure Imagination from the original Charlie and the Chocolate Factory film every time the lid was opened. The box was a very special full sensory fun packed pancake kit, which helped keep my children entertained during half term and also gave us some new ideas ahead of Pancake Day on March 4th”
Recipes included Chilli Jam & Lime, Granola & Shaved Coconut, Dried Banana & Cinnamon, Chocolate & Popping Candy, Feta Cheese & Mint Leaves, Marmite & Mascarpone and Pancetta & Pistachio…all served up on a Warburtons Pancake!
Mateusz of Popcorn Design comments
“Everyone that has had their box so far loves it! Warburtons are getting a brilliant response. We commissioned BoxcoUK to design the inner workings of the Pancake Possibilities pack, an idea we could only dream of beforehand – Thanks again for all your hard work!”
Colin from the Design Team at BoxcoUK
“This was a PR stunt, a pack that popped pancakes and sang ‘Pure Imagination’ every time you opened it. This pack was distributed to a selection of active bloggers. Going forward, a marketing piece that talks (or sings, or plays a video) every time you open it, is something that I can see there’s going to be a lot more call for. People want something to hold, talk about, send round the office, blog & tweet about.”

We make our boxes here in Britain which allows us to keep better control over lead times. Alongside of this, complete fulfilment is also in the UK and each project is assigned to an Account Manager to oversee.
The Account Manager will act in the best interests of the customer and will ensure quality is maintained, data is accurately matched (e.g. when packing a marketing piece that has names of CEOs on outside, matching mail-merged information going on the inside).
When the fulfilment is complete and the marketing piece has been despatched, we arrange disposal of all critical data that has been used, in line with current legislation on fraud prevention.
We manufacture in Britain and hold accreditation to ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 giving you complete peace of mind.
For more information relating to our methods of fulfilment, please contact us on Tel 020 3011 0211 | Email business@boxcouk.com
We’ve gained approval for ISO 14001 because we believe that being Environmentally Friendly is important and does mean something to our clients.
In real terms it means we look after you really well, and if we fail in this, we make a proper investigation into it. We also have special lorries that come and collect waste paper and cardboard and recycle it (they hold certificates to do this).
The grueling process of gaining ISO 14001:2004, to give it it’s correct title, involves reducing waste and operational costs, reducing the risk of environmental breaches, reducing the impact of our carbon footprint. In turn, it reduces the risk of prosecution and the bad PR associated with it.
We are satisfied that it provides us with the credentials to react to market demand and opens global opportunities with a recognised mark of environmental responsibility and efficiency, giving clients absolute confidence that BoxcoUK will add value and support their own environmental policies.
We didn’t just achieve this on our own – we have a great company backing us – IMSM Quality Auditors keep regular control over our environmental management system. To contact them directly ring 01666 826065, based in Wiltshire.

BoxcoUK has now been audited against ISO 9001:2008 quality processes and we have gained the necessary certification to display the Registered mark.
So what is ISO 9001:2008 about and what does it do for our clients? The certification shows that we have management processes in place relating to the quality of our products and services and that these processes have been looked at by Third party trained auditors, who have approved it based on standards set out in the recognised ISO 9001:2008 Quality Management System.
Along with many other companies we want to prove to our clients that we have the ability to consistently provide products and services to a high standard in terms of quality. If we make a mistake, and let our customers down, there is a proper system in place for following up, assessing what should have happened and making a change in procedure to ensure that we don’t make the same mistake again.
The process of gaining ISO 9001:2008 involves drilling down into the processes within our business structure. Focusing on the customers’ experience, ISO 9001 aims to better equip the business to meet their needs, improving the customer focus throughout the business. The impact of this fundamental change to streamlining processes, containing costs, improving accountability and traceability across the company with a recognised mark of quality, is a positive move forward and the improved efficiency has meant resources being better focused on the main business objectives.
We’ve always had a high number of client referrals from the great customer service we offer, so gaining the ISO 9001:2008 was really a way of gaining a recognised approval for something we’re already pretty good at. Dare we be this modest?
Possibly the best thing about gaining ISO 9001:2008 has been the teamwork that has made it possible. Better internal processes and even higher standards of quality, with a continuous improvement policy is driving the business forward to maintain great customer service.
